Setting a lead time is an important part of completing your garage profile because it helps drivers make bookings on dates that work for you.
What is a lead time?
A lead time is the total time it takes to complete a process. On FixMyCar, it refers to the number of days’ notice you need for drivers to make bookings.
If you set your lead time to two days, drivers wouldn’t be able to make a booking at your garage today or tomorrow. There would be two days between the time the booking was made and when the work was carried out.
Why should you set a lead time?
Setting a lead time stops drivers from making last-minute bookings that you can’t fit in.
How to set a lead time
Follow the steps below.
1. Start on the Garage Portal home page.
2. Go to your booking calendar using the navigation panel to the left of the screen.
3. Click on ‘settings’ in the top right-hand corner.
4. From here, you can click the ‘+’ or ‘-’ buttons to increase or decrease your lead time.
How long should your lead time be?
We recommend a lead time of two days, but it’s entirely up to you if you want to increase this time or decrease it to accept last-minute bookings.
Top tip: Longer lead times can put drivers off and prevent you from winning jobs. Choose a time of five days or less for the best results.
